First AI Cybersecurity Challenge Final Held in Hong Kong

The first AI Cybersecurity Challenge final was held on August 23, 2026, at Cyberport in Hong Kong, co-organized by the Digital Policy Office of the Hong Kong SAR Government, the Chinese Academy of Cyberspace Studies, the Hong Kong Cybersecurity Professionals Association, and China Mobile Hong Kong. The competition attracted 290 teams from home and abroad, with 40 advancing to the final after an online preliminary in July. Teams designed and deployed AI agents in simulated attack-defense environments. The event aimed to explore practical applications of AI in cyber defense and promote cross-regional technical exchange.

The event combines AI technology with cybersecurity practice, offering a concrete application scenario for AI education and helping cultivate talent with both AI and security skills. Co-organized by the Hong Kong government and multiple institutions, it reflects official attention to AI security education and may promote related curriculum and training. However, as a one-time event, its long-term impact depends on whether it becomes a regular mechanism.
