UTEP Summit Reports El Paso Computes Trained 721 Teachers and Reached 25,000 Students

UTEP's College of Education held the Built Here Summit on August 11 to report results from El Paso Computes. Since launching in 2025, the program has trained 721 teachers, provided advanced computing skills to 500 students through summer camps, reached 131 schools, and benefited more than 25,000 K–12 students. The summit also began a new phase of cooperation among education, industry, government, and the community.

The program demonstrates regional cooperation at scale and offers other regions a replicable model. It directly improves teacher and student AI literacy and strengthens coordination across education, industry, and government. Training 721 teachers expands regional teaching capacity, while exposure for more than 25,000 K–12 students broadens the talent pool.
