UNESCO Launches First Free AI Ethics Global MOOC on Coursera

UNESCO launched its first free course, the Global MOOC on the Ethics of AI, on the Coursera platform, developed with LG AI Research. The nine-hour course is available in 11 languages, including Hindi, requires no advanced technical knowledge, and targets university students, researchers, policymakers, and technology leaders. Through hands-on projects, it covers privacy, transparency, sustainability, and human autonomy, helping learners turn ethical principles into practical decisions and policies.

The course turns an AI ethics framework endorsed by 193 countries into scalable, free learning content aimed directly at university students, researchers, and policymakers, providing cross-institutional, multilingual public course supply for AI ethics education.
