Beijing's Huairou District Opens Free AI Skills Classes for Residents with 40 in First Cohort

Huairou District in Beijing recently opened its 2026 AI course series under the free Community Skills Classroom program. The first course, 'Introduction to AI Applications at Work,' attracted 40 residents, and the five-course series received 220 cumulative registrations. Content includes AI task analysis, structured questioning, and content verification for work. Later courses cover AI graphics and short video and the AI trainer occupation.

The program shows local government incorporating AI-skills training into public education services to strengthen digital literacy and employability, providing a community-level example. Residents of different ages and occupations gain nearby learning opportunities that may improve workplace competitiveness, while other regions gain a model for extending AI education into communities.
