Nigeria's Federal Government, Meta and RAIN Launch AI Academy Nigeria

Nigeria's Federal Government, Meta and Robotics Artificial Intelligence Nigeria (RAIN) announced on 17 August 2026 the launch of AI Academy Nigeria, implemented through the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy (FMCIDE), Meta's Three Million Technical Talent (3MTT) Programme and the National Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics (NCAIR). The initiative has three streams: AI skills development, a startup pitchathon and a developer bootcamp. Pitchathon applications close on 21 August 2026, with 10 startups to pitch at GITEX Nigeria on 3 September; two winners each receive $5,000 in cash and $2,000 in Meta advertising credits. Courses are delivered free via Coursera, DeepLearning.AI and DataCamp, covering generative AI application development with Llama, prompt engineering and multimodal Llama 3.2.
