Zoho launches Zoho Classes 2.0, a no-licence-fee AI learning management system in India

Chennai-headquartered Zoho launched Zoho Classes 2.0, an AI-powered academic learning management system, in July 2026, offering it at no product licensing cost to all Central and State government schools, colleges and universities in India and to individual teachers instructing up to 100 students. The platform supports all 22 scheduled Indian languages and provides AI-driven course generation, grading and reporting, with about 500 sign-ups logged. Private institutions pay roughly ₹500 per teacher per month rather than a per-student fee.

The product embeds AI course generation, grading and reporting into Indian government institutions and trades zero licensing fees for institution-level adoption, which could shift the edtech market's licensing-fee pricing structure and affect tool access for multilingual learners. For education product practitioners, per-teacher pricing, a model-agnostic approach and data localisation are directly observable product and compliance paths. Currently only about 500 sign-ups and company statements are available, with no independent usage data or teaching-outcome evidence.
