UNESCO IITE and Huawei Release ICT Skills Reports and AI Course Solution in Shenzhen

On 5 June 2026, the AI Accelerating Education Transformation Summit was held in Shenzhen, China, during the Closing and Awards Ceremony of the 10th Huawei ICT Competition Global Final, bringing together more than 200 participants from education institutions, industry, international organisations and media. Dr. Shafika Isaacs, Interim Director of UNESCO IITE, delivered a keynote noting that AI is reshaping education across all dimensions, but growing investments in technological infrastructure have not always been accompanied by sufficient funding for building human capabilities. UNESCO IITE in partnership with Huawei released a series of Insight Reports with Recommendations on ICT Skills Development, and the Huawei ICT Academy AI Course Solution and digital courses were jointly introduced.

The event combines an international organisation's competency frameworks with a company's course resources, directly targeting university ICT curriculum strengthening and AI talent development at scale, affecting teaching resource provision for instructors and practical opportunities for students. UNESCO has previously launched AI competency frameworks for teachers and students focused on ethics, technology application, critical thinking and AI system design; the reports and course solution are one implementation path.
