AI-Enabled Lesson Courses Spur Courseware Customization and VR Device Supply Chain as Competition Reviews Make AI Use Mandatory

On September 15, 2026, a report republished by PEdaily and originally from Temperature Chronicle said a 30-person startup in Shandong focused on custom AI-enabled courseware, AI digital literacy courses and VR device sales to schools, having customized AI-enabled courseware for 2,000 to 3,000 teachers over three years at prices from 800 to 10,000 yuan per order. The report said whether AI is used has become a hard criterion in teaching competition reviews, leading some teachers to pay for outsourced courseware. After visiting more than 30 schools, the company found idle VR devices to be common, with actual buyers mostly universities in Guangdong.

The report offers a concrete sample of AI education implementation: when policy promotion is tied to competition evaluation, teachers' demand for AI courseware turns into paid outsourcing, directly affecting the teacher tool market, school procurement decisions and actual usage rates of AI education products. Two direct effects are that courseware customization and training services form stable demand during competition seasons, and VR hardware sits idle due to missing student devices and sustained curriculum support. It should be noted that revenue, transaction volume and idle device ratios come from interviewee accounts and media relay, lack independent verification, and cannot be used to infer learning outcomes or overall education quality. Making AI use a hard criterion in competition reviews will continue to drive demand for courseware customization, digital human production and AI tool training for teachers. VR devices purchased by schools sit idle due to missing student devices and supporting curricula, showing a clear gap between hardware investment and actual teaching use.
