Assam Partners with Google for Education on Teacher AI Training

Samagra Shiksha Assam (SSA), in collaboration with Google for Education, will organise an online Google AI Education Educator Series for teachers across Assam as part of a three-year capacity-building programme on using AI in teaching. The training runs in two phases on September 18 and September 24, 2026, focuses on teaching students from Classes 6 to 12, and includes guided hands-on practice. SSA has directed district education officials to ensure teacher participation, and interested teachers must register online through the Google AI Educator Series registration portal.

This is a case of a government education body partnering with a technology company and using official directives to drive large-scale teacher AI training, directly changing how teachers in Assam access AI teaching capacity and how the programme is organised. It offers a reference structure for other regions designing teacher AI capacity-building programmes. Its effect depends on actual teacher participation and classroom application after training, and no independent evaluation data is available yet.
