Assam Signs MoUs with Six Organizations to Introduce AI in School Education

Samagra Shiksha, Assam, signed MoUs with Google AI, IIT Madras-Bodhan AI, and others to integrate AI into schools. The plan includes training 100,000 teachers, with IIT Madras-Bodhan AI training teachers of grades 6-12 by May 2027. LEHS-Wadhwani AI will assess reading fluency, EkStep-AXL will provide personalized learning, and Educate Girls will track out-of-school girls.

This is a significant state-level initiative in India to scale AI in education, involving teacher training, learning assessments, and personalized learning, directly affecting adoption of AI education products and teacher capacity. The multi-stakeholder approach may serve as a model, but outcomes depend on implementation. 100,000 teachers will receive AI and digital skills training, enhancing teaching capacity. AI reading assessments and personalized learning will cover many students, potentially improving foundational learning.
