Anthropic Launches Claude for Teachers, Offering Advanced Capabilities Free to US K–12 Educators

On July 14, Anthropic launched Claude for Teachers. Verified US K–12 teachers receive free access to advanced Claude capabilities, a skills library for teaching tasks, and academic standards and learning-progression information from all 50 states through a connection to Learning Commons.

The product can access curriculum resources including OpenSciEd and Illustrative Mathematics and connect with K–12 tools including ASSISTments, Brisk Teaching, Canva Education, Diffit, MagicSchool, Snorkl, and TeachFX. Claude Code and Cowork are also included in the teacher edition for analyzing class data, organizing materials, and performing repetitive tasks.

This is Anthropic's first Claude product aimed directly at K–12 teachers and serves a different audience from the earlier higher-education product Claude for Education. It is for teachers only, continues to follow Claude's age-18-and-over policy, and offers FERPA-oriented data-processing terms. Key areas to watch include evaluation of the Detroit Public Schools pilot, actual teacher use, curriculum-alignment quality, and protection of student data.
