GMind Academy Proposes Training 774 AI Adoption Specialists Across Nigeria's Local Government Areas

GMind Academy proposed on September 23, 2026, to train 774 artificial intelligence adoption specialists, one for each local government area in Nigeria, as part of efforts to accelerate practical AI adoption in the country's education sector. The proposal came from discussions between GMind Academy and the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) on a potential partnership to equip teachers, schools and education stakeholders to use AI effectively and responsibly. Each specialist would serve as an AI adoption champion in their local government area and receive two months of free access to the GMind AI platform. GMind said its existing AI training has produced 684 AI specialists so far.

This is a concrete proposal to push AI capacity-building down to the local government level in Nigeria's education system, directly tied to teacher training, professional standards and the conditions for AI education products to reach grassroots schools. TRCN is reviewing its professional standards and regulatory framework to accommodate AI developments, has introduced child-protection and safeguarding certification into its Professional Qualifying Examination, and is expanding digital examination infrastructure and its Accelerated Teacher Professionalisation Pathway. These changes would affect the conditions for AI education products to enter schools, teacher training and certification markets. The proposal remains under discussion, TRCN has not approved the partnership, and the CART credit arrangement is subject to TRCN approval and applicable regulations. If the partnership proceeds, teachers and schools in Nigeria's 774 local government areas would gain local AI adoption champions, clarifying the path for AI tools into grassroots teaching and administrative processes. If TRCN approves CART credits, AI competency could be incorporated into teachers' continuing professional development requirements, affecting the teacher training and certification market.
