Hong Kong Design Institute and BytePlus Partner on AI-Enabled Design Education

Hong Kong's Vocational Training Council has signed a memorandum of understanding with ByteDance enterprise AI cloud-service provider BytePlus, making VTC member Hong Kong Design Institute a BytePlus higher-education partner. HKDI has integrated AI tools into teaching since 2023 and is now moving from technical experimentation toward structured design education. The partnership covers teaching, administration, and applied research.

Systematically embedding generative-AI tools in design curricula may change how design talent is trained. HKDI's AI strategy may guide other design institutions and affect adoption in creative-industry education. Students will receive practical training in generative AI, digital marketing, and related areas, while BytePlus resources will support AI-based dynamic generation for the virtual-idol IP Vi and may advance educational applications.
