Hong Kong EDB Hosts AI Leadership Training for School Leaders

The Education Bureau (EDB) of Hong Kong held a two-day AI Leadership Training on August 24-25 for principals, vice-principals, and middle managers of primary, secondary, and special schools, attracting about 1,400 participants. The training, conducted in both face-to-face and online modes, introduced the AI Literacy Learning Framework and the Guide to Using AI in Teaching, and shared school-based AI+Subject practices. Under Secretary for Education Dr Sze Chun-fai emphasized the role of school leaders in translating policy into school-based action plans.

By training school leaders, the EDB aims to translate AI education policy into school-based actions, directly influencing the pace of AI education implementation across Hong Kong schools. This helps unify understanding of AI literacy and teaching applications, but its effectiveness depends on follow-up and resources. Direct impacts include enhancing school leaders' AI planning capabilities and promoting the adoption of AI+Subject teaching models. About 1,400 school leaders received training, potentially accelerating school-based AI education planning and implementation. The interpretation of the AI literacy framework and teaching guide standardizes schools' understanding of AI application norms.
