Huairou Science City AI for Science OPC Challenge Adds Eighth List and a Student Hackathon Track

The 2026 Huairou Science City AI for Science·OPC Innovation Challenge launched on September 11 at a Service Trade Fair forum, and on September 21 it added its eighth list, posted by Meiyun Zhishu Technology Co., Ltd., offering at least 100,000 yuan for an intelligent agent that recommends machining process parameters for open impellers. The event has two tracks: a "open call" track for mature teams and a 48-hour hackathon for geeks, students and independent developers, held on site in Huairou Science City with a separate prize pool. There are 10 real lists in total, each with at least 100,000 yuan in rewards and a total prize pool of over 3 million yuan.

The event combines real industrial orders with a bounty mechanism, giving students a hackathon track to work on deliverable, verifiable AI problems and offering a practice entry point for AI talent development based on real questions. The intelligent process parameter recommendation problem is an industrial agent direction, and its problem-setting and procurement orientation can indirectly shape topics in related AI education courses and training. The original text provides no data on participant numbers, student share, past outcome conversion or learning effects, so the actual impact on talent supply still needs later public results. Students and independent developers gain a closed-development opportunity on real industrial problems, extending AI practice from classroom exercises to manufacturing process optimization. Universities and training providers can reference the list directions when adjusting AI agent and industrial data processing training content, though actual adoption has no public data yet.
