Intel to scale AI education programmes in Kenya and nine other countries under FTFT coalition

At a Fostering the Future Together (FTFT) event in New York held alongside the opening of the 81st UN General Assembly, Intel announced it will scale its AI in Education, EdTech Tools and Digital Literacy programmes across 10 countries including Kenya, covering AI for Citizens, AI for Youth and Semiconductor for Youth. The event brought together representatives of 57 nations and technology companies, secured seven new private-sector partnerships, and announced a $4 million AI education investment and $2.75 million in new grants. Specific programmes, schools and beneficiary numbers for Kenya have not yet been announced.

The event shifts AI education from individual corporate outreach toward a multi-country coalition coordinated through diplomatic channels, with participating countries including France, Poland, the UAE, Morocco, Israel, Türkiye and South Korea holding divergent standards. For Kenya, the near-term test is whether AI for Youth and digital literacy programmes reach public schools beyond pilot cohorts and whether the globally promised free educator tools are localised for Kenyan classrooms. Because FTFT commitments are voluntary and company-driven, delivery depends on which ministries, county education offices and private partners convert partnerships into devices, training and curricula. Kenyan public schools may gain AI and digital literacy resources, but reach depends on the schools and beneficiary numbers later published. Intel and other companies gain a diplomatic channel into multiple national education markets, potentially expanding teacher training and device procurement.
