Kazakhstan Rolls Out AI Education from School to University

Kazakhstan is launching a comprehensive AI education program in the 2026–27 academic year. Its first AI university, Qazaq AI Research University, plans to enroll 600 students and trainees: 400 undergraduates, 100 master's students, and 100 participants in an MBA AI+X program. Ten rural primary schools will also pilot AI teaching from September 1, with expansion planned to 500 schools.

Kazakhstan is seeking to build a domestic AI talent pipeline from primary school through university to support data-center development and AI-enabled public administration. This will directly affect demand for products, teacher training, and education-technology infrastructure. QAIRU will train engineers able to build AI systems independently, while rural pilots may bring personalized learning tools to resource-constrained areas and narrow the urban-rural quality gap.
