KT and NIA Sign MOU to Bring AICE AI Certification Training to Vietnam, Sri Lanka and Georgia

KT announced on the 22nd that it signed a memorandum of understanding with the National Information Society Agency to support AI-based inclusive digital transformation and strengthen global capabilities. The two organizations plan to expand their AI education and certification cooperation experience accumulated in Korea overseas, linking AICE to NIA's Information Access Centers and the World Friends Korea IT Volunteers program. In the second half of this year, AICE Basic training and exams will be piloted at Information Access Centers in Vietnam, Sri Lanka and Georgia, with 100 people per country receiving VOD online training and 20 per country taking three days of offline training and the AICE Basic exam.

This is a concrete arrangement in which a Korean public agency and a company jointly export a domestic AI certification system to education settings in developing countries, involving cross-border reuse of curriculum, exams, instructors and a volunteer network. For AI education product practitioners, AICE Basic assesses data analysis and basic AI principles without coding, and its overseas pilot can test the feasibility of foundational AI certification for non-specialists in developing-country IAC settings. For schools and teachers, the IAC and IT volunteer networks may become delivery channels for foundational AI education. It is currently only an MOU and pilot plan; target countries, training scale and operating methods remain to be detailed, and no pilot outcome data is available. AICE certification expands from domestic corporate training in Korea to overseas IAC and IT volunteer networks, providing an observable sample of cross-border foundational AI certification. Information Access Centers in Vietnam, Sri Lanka and Georgia will receive VOD courses, the AIDU practice platform and offline instructor support, affecting local digital education delivery.
