Qatar ranks 46th globally in Coursera AI-Human Skills Synergy Index
Coursera's Global Skills Report 2026 introduced the first AI-Human Skills Synergy Index, covering learners in 98 countries and measuring AI skills alongside human skills while factoring in each country's broader AI readiness. Qatar ranks fifth in the Middle East and North Africa and 46th globally on the index. Qatar is advancing its National AI Strategy, linking talent development with AI deployment, through measures including the ALIF programme with Scale AI and a Google Cloud upskilling initiative targeting more than 50,000 learning opportunities by 2030.
The index expands AI talent development beyond single-skill training to the synergy of AI skills and human skills, and factors in national AI readiness, offering a comparable reference for education systems and corporate training. For education product practitioners, the 98-country coverage and arrangements such as government-employee training and 50,000 learning opportunities indicate that government-led large-scale skills programmes are becoming a significant source of AI education demand. The limitation is that the ranking comes from a Coursera report, and the original text does not provide the scoring method, sample size or independent research validation, so it cannot be used to infer training outcomes or changes in education quality. Qatar government employees and learners can access generative AI training through the ALIF programme and the Google Cloud collaboration, with an explicit target for the scale of training supply. Education authorities and corporate training providers in various countries can use the index as a cross-country reference for developing AI skills alongside human skills, adjusting course and talent programme design.
