QS I-GAUGE Report: Only 13% of Indian Schools Achieve Advanced AI Integration, 91% Teachers Call for Clear Boundaries

QS I-GAUGE released two reports showing that only 13% of K-12 schools in India have achieved advanced AI integration, and 91% of school teachers believe clear boundaries for student AI use are necessary. The surveys covered 1,209 teachers from 71 K-12 institutions and 1,118 faculty from 146 higher education institutions. Among higher education faculty, 78% fear overuse will weaken independent thinking, while 76% expect AI to improve academic performance.

The reports provide quantitative data on AI education in India, showing low integration levels and consensus among teachers on AI risks, which may influence policy and school practices. For AI education product developers, the high demand for training and enterprise-level tools (71% and 61%) indicates product directions, while academic integrity and over-dependence issues need attention. Schools may accelerate the development of AI usage boundaries and academic integrity frameworks, affecting AI education product design.
