South African Company Launches IRIS, Its First Humanoid AI Tutor Supporting 11 Official Languages

KwaZulu-Natal technology company BSG and Technologies has launched IRIS, South Africa's first humanoid AI tutor. It supports all 11 official languages and covers curricula from Grade R through Grade 12 and higher education. The National IRIS Lab School Campaign has deployed the robot to five schools. The company plans to build a manufacturing facility and expects to create more than 20,000 jobs within five years.

As South Africa's first humanoid AI tutor, IRIS could reduce inequality in educational resources, especially for students in remote areas. It gives schools multilingual AI teaching support spanning Grade R through higher education.
