Syracuse Arts and Sciences and Libraries Launch AI Literacy Digital Badge

The College of Arts and Sciences and Syracuse University Libraries have launched the AI Literacy Digital Badge, a free, self-paced microcredential available exclusively to A&S undergraduates. Designed by faculty across the humanities and sciences, the online modules cover how generative AI tools work, how to evaluate AI-generated information and how AI is used across disciplines, with each module taking about 30 to 60 minutes and no prior AI experience required. Completers receive a digital credential shareable on résumés, LinkedIn profiles and professional portfolios.

This is a concrete move by a college to turn AI literacy into a verifiable microcredential, directly changing how undergraduates acquire foundational AI skills and how they document them.
