People's Education Audio-Visual Digital Press and Xiaoyuan Launch Textbook Learning Agent on Xiaoyuan AI Learning Device

On August 21, People's Education Audio-Visual Digital Press and Xiaoyuan signed a cooperation agreement, announcing the official launch of the 'Primary and Secondary School Textbook Learning Agent' on the Xiaoyuan AI Learning Device. The agent, developed by the press, combines textbook content with Xiaoyuan's Yuanli large model, featuring dual modes of 'AI companion' and 'AI guidance'. Since a pilot in March 2026, over 100,000 students have used it, with pilot data showing a 33.6% increase in Chinese knowledge mastery and 24% in English.

This cooperation deeply integrates authoritative textbook content with educational AI, directly responding to the Ministry of Education's 'AI + Education Action Plan' issued in April 2026, which calls for developing intelligent learning companions, and provides a practical sample for digital textbooks and AI-assisted learning. For teachers, the agent can support students' self-study, reducing basic tutoring burdens; for product practitioners, it validates a model combining authoritative content with AI, potentially driving more publishers to partner with hardware makers. However, pilot data is provided by the partners and lacks independent verification, so effects should be viewed cautiously. Teachers can use the agent to guide students' pre-class preparation and after-class review, reducing repetitive instruction, but must consider its impact on teaching autonomy.
