Vi Foundation Opens AI Teacher-Training Center in Varanasi

Vi Foundation has opened an AI education center in Varanasi in partnership with the District Institute of Education and Training. It offers preservice teachers a four-module AI course covering fundamentals, safety, and ethics. Integrated into the DIET core curriculum, the center aims to reach 650 schools and more than 68,000 teachers and students.

Embedding AI capacity at the source of teacher training can narrow India's AI-literacy gap, and its sustainable model may influence policy elsewhere. Preservice teachers gain practical skills in foundations, safety, and ethics for classroom use, while AI modules in the core DIET curriculum may update teacher-training standards.
