2026 World Digital Education Conference Holds Eight Parallel Sessions in Hangzhou, Releases AI Education Resources

On May 12, 2026, the World Digital Education Conference held eight parallel sessions in Hangzhou covering basic education, vocational education, higher education, teacher development, scientific research, education evaluation, lifelong learning and enterprise collaboration. The basic education session released a series of AI literacy education resources for primary and secondary schools and a series of AI tools on the National Smart Education Platform. The teacher development session released the 2026 Report on Chinese Teachers' Use of Generative AI, the 2025 Annual Report on Chinese Primary and Secondary School Teachers' Digital Literacy, and the Action Plan for Improving Teachers' Digital Literacy in the Global South.

These outputs directly change the resource supply and teacher capacity conditions for AI education in primary and secondary schools: the national platform AI tools and AI literacy resources determine whether under-resourced schools can obtain usable teaching materials, the teacher reports provide a baseline for subsequent training and policy evaluation, and the Global South teacher plan affects the supply of digital skills training for teachers in developing countries. These links rest on the public conference releases, while actual use effects and coverage scale still await follow-up public data. The release of AI tools on the National Smart Education Platform and AI literacy education resources gives primary and secondary schools directly usable entry points for AI teaching materials. The release of the teacher generative AI report and the digital literacy annual report provides checkable baseline data for teacher training and capacity assessment.
