Singapore Launches Teacher AI-Literacy Roadmap Requiring Foundational Module for All School and Junior College Teachers

Singapore's Ministry of Education launched its Teacher AI Literacy Professional Learning Roadmap in August 2026, requiring every primary, secondary, and junior college teacher to complete a foundational AI module on ethics, safety, and responsible use by the end of 2026. The other two modules are recommended by the end of 2027, and each takes about 30–45 minutes online. Singapore had 29,605 primary, secondary, and junior college teachers as of 2024.

The policy will systematically strengthen AI literacy among all teachers and directly affect the method and quality of classroom adoption. Standardized foundational training reduces capability gaps and supports responsible use. Schools must organize completion by the end of 2026 and may need to adjust existing professional-development plans.
