Clemson College of Education Creates AI and Learning Sciences Faculty Post, Hires Alumnus Adisa

Clemson University's College of Education has hired alumnus Ibrahim Oluwajoba "Joba" Adisa as an assistant professor of learning sciences with a focus on artificial intelligence and education, starting in fall 2026. Adisa earned his Ph.D. in learning sciences at Clemson in 2024 and previously held a human-centered AI postdoctoral fellowship at Stanford University focused on teachers' AI literacy and a postdoctoral role at the College Board's GenAI Studio examining AI from an assessment perspective. Beyond teaching and research, he aims to help preservice and practicing teachers treat AI as a useful tool and to help define ethical concerns around classroom AI use.

This is a concrete personnel move that adds a dedicated faculty position in AI education, affecting teacher preparation and research capacity rather than students directly. Adisa's background in teacher AI literacy at Stanford and assessment research at the College Board may support collaborative work with South Carolina school districts on AI teaching and assessment; however, the source provides no specific courses, enrollments or research projects, so actual outputs remain to be seen. Clemson's College of Education gains an assistant professor focused on AI and education, with teacher AI literacy and assessment as teaching and research priorities. The college's existing relationships with South Carolina school districts may allow AI education research collaborations to start sooner.
