HolonIQ's 2026 Southeast Asia EdTech 50 released, Vietnam ranks second with 18% share

Global education market intelligence platform HolonIQ released its 2026 Southeast Asia EdTech 50 list, recognizing 50 fast-growing innovative education technology startups. Singapore accounts for half of the featured companies, Vietnam ranks second with 18%, and Indonesia fell to 12% from 38% in 2020. Nine Vietnamese companies made the list, down from 26% last year, with AI Hay, KidsOnline and Tudy retaining their spots.

The list names AI-assisted study tools as one of the most significant growth drivers in Southeast Asian EdTech. Vietnam's AI Hay and similar AI question-and-answer platforms directly serve students' daily study routines, indicating that competition in regional education products is shifting from general learning content toward personalized support synchronized with local curricula, exams and policy. For education product practitioners, the data and feature maintenance burden created by frequent curriculum and policy changes is a real barrier to entering this market. Southeast Asia's K-12 and AI learning support tracks have become the region's main EdTech growth direction, shifting product positioning and fundraising narratives. The number and share of Vietnamese companies on the list both fell, squeezing local startups' relative position against Singapore and Indonesia.
