IMFA Launches 'E-Shikshya Express' Mobile Computer and AI Education Project in Odisha

Indian Metals & Ferro Alloys Ltd (IMFA), through its CSR arm the Bansidhar & Ila Panda Foundation, launched the 'E-Shikshya Express' at its Therubali plant in Odisha. The mobile education initiative will travel across villages to provide students with computer education, internet usage and artificial intelligence. It also covers Microsoft Office and cyber security, aiming to reduce the need for rural students to travel long distances for digital learning facilities and to help rural girls and women improve digital skills.

This is a concrete case of corporate CSR funding entering rural AI and digital literacy education, showing that AI education provision can move beyond fixed school buildings to reach areas with poor transport links. For education product practitioners, it suggests that delivery in rural markets may depend more on mobile and offline scenarios; for policymakers, it offers a reference for corporate participation in bridging the digital divide. Public information currently describes only the launch and course scope, with no quantitative data on villages covered, participants or learning outcomes. Rural students can access computer, internet and AI courses near their villages, lowering the learning barrier caused by difficult transport. Corporate CSR entering digital education through a mobile teaching format offers a reference delivery model for resource-scarce areas.
