At the International Conference on Educational Cooperation in the Digital Age held in Hanoi on October 8-9, Le Anh Vinh, Director of Vietnam's Institute for Educational Strategy and Policy, said that after research, competency framework development and pilot programs, Vietnam plans to implement AI education in secondary schools starting from the 2026-2027 academic year. An online survey following the AI education pilot, presented at the conference, showed that 90.5% of participating middle school students and 97.6% of high school students had used AI tools, while 35% and 36.7% respectively reported difficulties in assessing the accuracy and reliability of information provided by AI.
The Pennsylvania House of Representatives has introduced a package of bills to regulate artificial intelligence in schools. Rep. Brandon Dukes would require every school district to adopt an AI policy protecting teacher and student privacy and preventing AI cheating; Rep. Melissa Shusterman would bar schools from using AI chatbots for mental and behavioral health services; Rep. Chris Pielli would create a grant program for teacher professional development on AI in the classroom; and Rep. Peter Schweyer's bill would make it easier for districts and public charter schools to acquire only the safest and most ethical AI education programs.

Malaysia's Ministry of Digital, through MyDIGITAL Corporation, is giving 100,000 Malaysians free access to Coursera's global learning platform via the Rakyat Digital portal as part of the AI Nation 2030 vision. The government-funded Global Learning Pass offers eligible Malaysians three months of complimentary access to more than 16,000 courses and Professional Certificate programs covering AI, data science, technology, business and digital literacy. It is open to all Malaysians holding a MyDigital ID. Within the first three weeks, 12,900 learners enrolled across 43,000 courses.
A Google and Ipsos survey found that 70% of South African adults have used an AI chatbot, up from 45% in 2023. Microsoft reported that 23.1% of South Africans aged 15 to 64 used generative AI in the first quarter of 2026, the highest rate in Africa. In a survey of 1,471 undergraduates at five universities, 37.3% said they had used ChatGPT to answer an essay question, and UCT said it had turned off its AI detection tools and now trains students to use AI.
