Malaysia Launches Rakyat Digital Portal with Free Coursera Courses and AI-App Access

Malaysia's Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo launched the Rakyat Digital portal at Malaysia AI Takeover 2026 in Ampang on August 11. People ages 18–30 who complete five designated learning modules receive three months of free access to leading generative-AI applications, rolled out in phases from August 31. Another 100,000 Malaysians can receive three free months of Coursera with more than 16,000 courses; the first 25,000 begin September 16.

The portal directly lowers barriers to AI skills and courses for young Malaysians and supports Digital 2030. It may change adoption conditions and bring providers potential user growth. Eligible people ages 18–30 receive three months of free AI-app access, while 100,000 Malaysians gain free Coursera access and broader coverage of high-quality courses.
