PMDC Endorses IMDC's Clinical AI Healthcare Education Initiative

The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has endorsed Islamabad Medical & Dental College's (IMDC) initiative to integrate AI into healthcare education. IMDC, in collaboration with Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University (SZABMU), completed its first Clinical AI Healthcare Certificate Program, a four-week course attended by 24 medical and dental students and professionals. PMDC President Prof. Dr. Rizwan Taj attended the ceremony and praised the effort.

PMDC's endorsement provides official backing for IMDC's AI medical education program, potentially influencing curriculum directions across medical colleges in Pakistan. This is an early case of AI integration in medical education in the country, and its model may be referenced by other institutions. However, the program is small-scale (24 participants), and no independent research has yet demonstrated its long-term effectiveness. PMDC's endorsement may prompt more medical colleges in Pakistan to incorporate AI into curricula, altering medical education standards. The long-term partnership between IMDC and SZABMU may advance AI medical education research, but further expansion needs monitoring.
