Telangana Schools Prioritize Reasoning Before AI Tools in Classrooms

Telangana schools are shifting focus from whether to teach AI to how to cultivate reasoning first. Pranjali Pathak, co-founder of Pi Jam Foundation, said the nonprofit has reached over 1.8 million learners and collaborates with SCERT on teacher training. Teachers attend four-to-five-day residential bootcamps, and some already use AI for lesson planning.

This teaching practice reflects the 'thinking before tools' philosophy in AI education, directly influencing teacher training and curriculum design. A Pi Jam survey found 61% of students worry that over-reliance on AI could weaken their thinking, prompting schools to reassess evaluation methods. Teacher training models may shift from technical operation to guided instruction, affecting AI education product design. School assessments may adopt more live and project-based formats, reducing reliance on assignments completable by AI.
