Indonesian Study: AI-Based Interactive Learning Media Improves Fifth-Grade Civic Skills

A peer-reviewed study published in the International Journal of Technology in Education and Science (Vol. 10, No. 3, 2026) developed and tested AI-based interactive learning media with fifth-grade elementary students in Banyumanik Subdistrict, Semarang Regency, Indonesia. The study used the ADDIE model and collected data through observation, interviews, tests, questionnaires, and expert validation. Feasibility was 71% for media, 85% for content, and 83% for language, with practicality scores of 90.8% for teachers and 93% for students. The experimental group's mean posttest scores were higher than the control group's in cognitive outcomes (89.02 vs. 81.51) and psychomotor outcomes (83.02 vs. 78.27), with Welch's t-test showing significant differences.

This study offers verifiable classroom evidence on the use of AI-based interactive learning media in elementary civic education, involving product design, teacher use, and student performance. Its sample is limited to fifth graders in one Indonesian subdistrict, so the effectiveness findings need replication in more regions and subjects. Provides reference data for the design and evaluation of AI education products in elementary civic education settings. Offers feasibility evidence for teachers and schools considering AI interactive media in classrooms.
