Jiangsu Sets 2027 as Its AI Education Expansion Target, Beginning with About 60 Experimental Areas and Schools

In May 2025, the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education released the Jiangsu Action Plan for AI-Empowered High-Quality Education Development (2025–2027), proposing that the province take the lead in expanding AI education across primary and secondary schools by 2027 and establish about 60 provincial AI experimental areas and schools in basic education.

The plan calls for gradually adding AI education to local curricula, building live-streamed courses and a digital-resource center, training all teachers, and providing inclusive resources for rural and special education. The provincial document sets no uniform instructional time and does not say that province-wide coverage was completed in 2026.

Jiangsu is currently advancing targets, pilots, and teacher preparation in parallel. Follow-up should verify the list of experimental areas and schools, local curriculum arrangements, teacher-training completion, resource use in rural schools, and the acceptance criteria for the 2027 expansion target.
